Do you know the phrase "tunnel-vision"? It's when you stop looking around yourself and focus only on what's directly in front of you. It's considered a bad thing mostly, I think, because then things can tend to sneak up on you unexpectedly and just...shock you. I'll admit, I'm victim to it myself. You can close off your sights and look only in one direction and stop noticing your surroundings and then, quite suddenly, someone will just sneak up on you and....surprise you. In a very unexpected way (and yes, I know that that is an incomplete sentence, but please forgive me, thank you.). And this person can just sneak up on you and you never would have noticed them until they...surprise you. I guess I had just grown resigned to the fact that I would never have what I actually wanted and that I would just watch everyone else take for granted the things I desperately wanted to possess...but that makes me sound materialistic and I'm not talking about something I can go and buy in the store or own. I'm just...I dunno...confused.

By always looking forward, you tend to miss out on what's standing there patiently on the side, waiting for you...
