1. Please tell us your Hand Name (name that’s used ONLY in internet.) and hometown.
emmyette/Miette Humble, TX
2. About how long is your history as a Lolita?
two....three years?
3. What first motivated you to do Lolita fashion?
I thought it was pretty :3
4. After knowing Lolita fashion, have you had any time-gap or resistance till you actually started to be Lolita?
roughly a year and half. Simply because it never occurred to me that I could actually wear such pretty things.
5. Please define your Lolita style as much as possible. (eg. gothic Lolita, sweet Lolita, white Lolita…. Etc).
classic and punk. I like sweet style, but I'm scared to wear it because I'm so short!
6. About how many Lolita friends do you have?
three.
7. What is the best thing about doing Lolita?
Feeling pretty and knowing that I'm a "special snowflake" in a world filled with dental floss wearing Hollister adverts.
8. Conversely, what's the worst thing?
The PRICE. After spending an inordinate amount of money to buy and ship something, you have to be insanely careful wearing it because most things are dry-clean only.
9. Which Lolita Brands do you like?
Victorian Maiden, Mary Magdalene...does h.NAOTO count? In the Starlight too!
10. What was the first Lolita item that you’ve owned?
Red and black tea party skirt and a red and black headdress from In the Starlight
11. What is the “must have!” Lolita item?
Pride in your clothes. It doesn't matter how great your coordination is, or how much brand you own if your ashamed and embarrassed by what your wearing.
12. Do you wear drawers?
No...I don't have any. If I did, I'd wear them all the time!
13. Do you have any favourite Japanese music?
L'Arc-en-Ciel, Phantasmagoria, TM Revolution....I'm not really fond of the girls for some reason.
14. Where do you particularly visit as Lolita?
School.
15. About how many times per week do you dress as Lolita?
Usually at least once a week.
16. Please tell us about one embarrassing episode from the time when you were just beginning Lolita.
I tried coordinating dark purple, brown, black, and red.
17. What's hairstyle and color that you think Lolita would suite the most?
I sometimes curl my hair....or at least pull it back from my face!
18. Have you ever thought of stopping Lolita? The reason?
I imagine I will one day when I'm older. I'll probably swap it out for a more mature, vintage aristocrat look.
19. Please tell us your heart's bible as a Lolita. (anything like a book, magazine, CD, idol...)
Anne of Green Gables. She was imaginative, independent, high-spirited--and she got Gilbert Blythe!
20. Do you own a doll? Tell us your feelings about her intensely!
Well...an old teddy bear I've had since I was born. She'll always be my best friend. I still sleep with her! (and probably will until I snag me a husband to sleep with instead ;D) Sadly, no BJD....yet
21. What kind of make-up do you wear when you wear Lolita clothes?
very little...I'm not fond of makeup.
22. Have you ever secretly changed clothes in a train station bathroom on Lolita day-out?
No.
23. Are you composed when doing Lolita all by yourself?
Yeah....why should I care if people think I'm off my rocker?
24. How much do you spend in your Lolita clothes& accessary monthly?
Monthly? Well, I save up a little each month. The amount varies depending on what I'm saving for and how soon I want it.
25. What is the most expensive Lolita thing you've bought so far? How much was it?
Meta antique bouquet set. $120-ish second-hand.
26. So far about how much has the expense been for Lolita goods?
$350-$400....blech.
27. Lolita outfit really costs money. How do you raise money to cover the cost of
Lolita?
I work two regular jobs and pet sit on the side.
28. Have you ever bought from an online store? If so, please tell us its good and bad points and some advice for the future. If not, please tell us why not.
In the Starlight. She was great....custom length plus fast and courteous service.
29. Even please clandestinely tell us about a private manufacturer that is the best.
I don't have much experience...I only own items from one brand.
30. Is there a brand and/or an item that you think, "I could never get it! But I unreasonably want it!"?
Just about anything Angelic Pretty. I love their clothes, but they are so sweet, and it's hard for me to wear sweet style without looking like I'm three because I'm so short.
31. What do you think about people who only do Lolita at music-lives or cosplay?
I don't mind as long as they aren't obnoxious about it. I am a bit annoyed when the cosplay lolitas think that lolita = cat ears and cheap wigs with short skirts. I once saw a girl wearing pants who claimed she was wearing lolita. That just really gets me.
32. From what age to what age is it acceptable to do Lolita? Do you think that there's a state in which someone must graduate from Lolita? (you can answer as ‘never graduate’)
Old enough to understand what a financial commitment it is.
33. Is there a Lolita fashion or behavior that you think "I don't want Lolitas to do this!" about?
When someone thinks they are better than another because they are skinnier/own more brand than another.
34. Is there something you think "Lolita has to be this way!" about?
Petticoat, skirt knee length, cover the boobs and navel.
35. While doing Lolita, has something changed from earlier than you did Lolita?
I coordinate better.
36. Do you go to school/work as Lolita?
yes
37. Do you wear Lolita clothes as casual wear?
Yeah.
38. Do you have a boyfriend (or husband)? Do you understand each other? (I think she meant “Does he understand you (as lolita)?”)
No...no boyfriend. I decided I'm not going to date anyone until I transfer to a university.
39. What do the people around you think of your doing Lolita? Do they accept it?
Everyone seems to love it--except for one of my friends who is like a sister to me. She refuses to see me if I'm in loli. It really hurts.
40. What kind of Lolita is who has impressed you the most up until now?
I really am impressed by the guro-lolitas because not only do they have to coordinate well, they also have to artistically damage themselves (and their clothes!)
41. Have you ever made your own Lolita clothing or/and accessories? If so, what was the best item that you’ve made?
No....I just got my sewing machine back yesterday though (a friend had borrowed it and not returned it) so that will be changing within a week or so!
42. If you have an ideal Lolita outfit or coordination, please tell us.
Purple/lavender plaid.
43. Is there a motif that you think “this is a simple of Lolita”?
The bell skirt.
44. Would you want to dress your children as Lolita?
Yeah...unless they actually come out and say they don't want to. But I'm not going to have kids...just animals.
45. What's your image of the ideal Lolita?
A beautiful girl without a "holier than thou" attitude and a lot of frills.
