HP Fanfic #6
She don't run from the sun no more
She boxed her shadow and she won
Said, "I can see you laugh through these bottle caps
And this wire around my neck ain't there for fun

But someday we'll all be old
And I'll be so damn beautiful
Meanwhile I'll hide my head
Here in this paper bag
Cause if I can't see you then you can't see me
And it'll be okay
Fly little bee away
To where there's no more rain and I can be me"

Yeah, they talk about her
She smiles like she's so tough
She says, "Hey, can you talk a little louder?
I don't think my heart is broken enough."

But someday we'll all be old
And I'll be so damn beautiful
Meanwhile I'll hide my head
Here in this paper bag
Cause if I can't see you then you can't see me
And it'll be okay
Fly little bee away
To where there's no more rain and I can be me"

Some days I wade in the indigo
Singing that song on the radio
I blame these puddles on the rain
You know I gotta keep these cheeks dry today
Gotta keep my cheating strategy
And baby I'm gonna have it made

But someday we'll all be old
And I'll be so damn beautiful
So I'll hide my head
Here in this paper bag
Cause if I can't see you then you can't see me
And it'll be okay
Fly little bee away
To where there's no more rain and I can be me

And I'll hide my head
Here in this paper bag
Cause if I can't see you, then you can't see me
And it'll be okay
Fly little bee away
To where there's no more rain and I can be me

Where I can be me . . . yeah
I can be me
Ohh
Where I can be me

--Paper Bag, Anna Nalick

I'm not too happy with how this one came out. I had a lot of trouble trying to get into Looney's head there. Meh...but she's a difficult one to figure out. I don't think she's half as clueless (or looney) as she pretends to be.

Title: Finding Nargles
Series: Harry Potter
Characters: Luna Lovegood
Rating: G...
Warnings: angst
Disclaimer: If I owned it, I wouldn't be writing FANFIC, now would I?

"Mistletoe," said Luna dreamily, pointing at a large clump of white berries placed almost over Harry's head. He jumped out from under it. "Good thinking," said Luna very seriously. "It's often infested with nargles."

--Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, J.K. Rowling

She had quickly learned that she had little in common with other kids her age. However, even now, years later, she still had yet to understand why in Merlin's name, they were incapable of just accepting her differences. Ever since she could remember, they had been playing cruel jokes and games--all at her expense. Did they really think that she had no idea it was them? It hurt her, all she wanted was to have real friends.

Small things happened. She would loose things, misplace precious little items to her--except that she wasn't that absent-minded. She would never loose things when she was alone. It didn't take her long to figure it out. To an eight-year old, it was a painful realization, knowing that the other children hated her enough that they would take and hide her things.

And yet, even though she knew what they were doing, she didn't want to accept it. And so, easily enough, Nargles came to be. Nargles were small, vicious little creatures who would take kind people's things and play hurtful pranks on them. It wasn't because they were inherently mean, they just didn't know any better. She told her father about the, at first he was unsure of what she was saying, then he had tearfully hugged her and said he understood; the other children weren't as kind. They laughed at her, mocking her belief in the Nargles. She told herself that they must be possessed by Nargles.

She began school at Hogwarts; the Nargles followed. Luckily, they returned her things before she left to return home for the summer. But they weren't always so kind. They still followed her about, scaring off anyone who would friend her. It was hurtful, but understandable. After all, it was the only way that the impish Nargles knew how to play. She did feel bad though, wearing talismans that were meant to chase them away. But she was older now, and she was no longer content to find that Nargles were constantly following her about. She was of an age where she should be forming relationships and friendships with others despite all of their differences. She had no time for humoring Nargles and their antics--the events in the Ministry of Magic had taught her that. But how could she rid herself of the creatures of her childhood? They had been with her almost all her life. Could she turn her back on them now and face the truth?

Luna Lovegood had found Nargles when she was only eight-years old. Now, at fourteen, she was more than ready to loose them again.
