Day 11 – Your siblings, in great detail

I say a lot of bad things about my brother, but he's not a bad person. He just doesn't use his really amazing brain. Because he's smart, he just...doesn't use his smarts.

My brother is two years younger than I am. I used to call him Choo Choo because when I was younger I couldn't pronounce Chaney. There weren't any girls on our street, so I grew up playing with his friends, running and climbing and getting dirty. I still, on several levels, do not understand "girls" and how they do things.

My brother did karate and he's wanted to be everything at one point or another. BMX, skateboarding, skating, and now weight lifting...he's very active and very healthy. He spends his money on all organic, all natural, cage free...you name it, he buys it. He grills great steaks and he plays guitar.

He works as a teller at a bank. It's a job his ex-girlfriend's uncle got him. He make more than my mother, who hasn't been able to find a full-time job, and myself, who has been with the same place for four years. He spends his money on himself, buying expensive shoes and going out every night. I don't dislike him because of that. I dislike him because I wish I could be that selfish. Everyone has always said, "Chaney is a boy, he'll do what he wants. But Megan is responsible, she'll take care of everything." And now, it's like that one phrase has become ingrained in my every action. I want my brother to man up and take responsibility for our family, but I'm glad he's able to go out and do the things I can't. And yes, I am ridiculously jealous of him and whatever fun he has, but I love him and I'm happy he can have an easy life.
