BLAH BLAH BLAH LOLITA DRAMA
Database is gone. Um. I think I only had feedback from three people anyway but still. It's weird having it not be there. It reminds me of back before there was a dbs. (Lol nm just checked the cached google bit. I have +2. Sooooooooo much buying selling there.)

A friend and I were talking about how the fashion and community has changed, and it really seems like there's two groups of thought regarding the fashion and its growth. The older one takes inspiration from outside sources (other fashions, time periods, etc.) and transformed to fit the lolita aesthetic. It provides for a more subtle change over time and seems to provide for longer lasting elements. The newer one takes the inspiration from outside sources and transposes those elements literally into lolita instead of interpreting them in the style of lolita. This causes the subsequent changes to have a shorter life span than those that came from interpreted elements because of the lifespan of the fads they came from. I feel like the difference is seen best in decololi and fairy kei loli. With decololi, you take the elements of decora and manipulate them to fit the lolita "look," whereas with fairy kei loli seems to take fairy kei elements and just dump them on a lolita outfit. I think this is why we still see decololi and why fairy kei lolita has "passed" and is not as hip as it was when it first entered the scene.

(lol this is the most I've talked about lolita in a long time!)
