What I Would Do

For you I would rend the world if I could.
For you I would tear this place apart--
Pull stone from earth and rip cloud from sky.
I would burn every city to the ground;
If I could for you I would destroy these things,
Kill every person; woman, man, and child.
I would take up my knife and lift my gun,
Cultivate the greatest poisons known to man,
I would turn to gunpowder and take out Paris, Spain, and Rome.
I would light this world on fire
And I would destroy everything I love in it,
Just to be there with you in the wreckage
Watching the grand fireworks go off
In explosions of light and sound
The two of us--alone--together.
