Things I Love Thursday

"7 Things" by Miley Cyrus. I never thought that I'd be saying this (EVER!), but I actually like make that LOVE this song. Not only is it catchy and cute, but it reminds me of Shakespeare. His "In faith, I do not love thee with mine eyes" (114) sonnet, to be precise. No, I don't think she deliberately put any connection there (mainly because I don't think she actually writes any of her songs), but I have been madly in love with this song since discovering this little connection.

♥ Sylvia Plath's "Mad Girl's Love Song" is perhaps one of the few poems that I like that isn't written by Shakespeare or Sandburg.

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery is one of those classics that I can read again and again and again! Nothing beats out "Anne with an 'E'" or Anne breaking her slate over Gilbert Blythe's head or her obsession with puffed sleeves and changing her red hair. Add in that this is the book that introduced the phrase "bosom buddies" into my vocab, and you have a WINNER!

Super secret agent behavior. Face it--it's really easy to become absolutely STIR-CRAZY during the summer hols. But taking a break from being depressed and manic by creeping around your house in a rather suspicious manner for no apparent reason (bonus points for spy moves like awkward acrobatic rolls and quick darting behind furniture to small to hide you!) is sure to brighten up not only your day, but that of anyone around to watch your antics. Plus, it adds a little excitement to the everyday mundane like making tuna salad. ;p

PEZ!!!! Not only are they yummy, they come in all sorts of exciting dispensers! I've got a Hello Kitty one that I bought my first day out with Sarah-child, and I'm absolutely in love with it! My only complaint is that my dispenser is so small. But hey--who doesn't love to relive their childhood??

Bandannas. A great way to accessorise when you just don't care about making a big production out of it! I'm especially in love with wearing mine like the "We Can Do It" girl (who is commonly mistaken for Rosie the Riveter).

Carl Sandburg is my favorite poet after William Shakespeare. His poems seem to embody the steampunk spirit. His works are so vivid and colorful and they seem to have a motion to them that most poems lack.

Project Runway. Oh, come on! How can anyone hate the show that brought us "Make it work," "Ferosha Coutura," "Tickety-tack," "I'm sorry, but you are out," "Don't bore Nina!" and "Where's my chiffon?!" into our vocab? ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The Dark Knight. Oh. My. Gawd. I have to see this movie at least ten more times!!! Ledger!Joker???? Good. Nolan-verse????? Double good. Aaron Eckhart????? Double plus good!!!!!! This movie has reawakened my previous love for all things Batman. I mean, I grew up watching TAS and all of the related series. Batman was my childhood. And now, I'm regressing and my love is growing exponentially each and every day.

Dancing in the rain. It will always be one of my first loves. You should never take yourself so seriously that you cannot be bothered to do this every once and a while.

Gala Darling. Once again, this absolutely splendid woman is gracing this list. She always manages to brighten my day and remind me to first and foremost love myself.
