Is this really what egl has come to? Have we really exhausted all other topics so that we're forced to have a "free for all" in order to have any sort of activity? Is there not another closet meme we can do? Or can't we debate whether or not puce should be added to the list of acceptable colors to use in lolita?
Okay. Here is the thing. We need to revive this damn comm before it putters into nonexistence. I just don't know how. I'm sick of all of the photo requests and name-this-print posts. Yes, things have been pretty much decided in the fashion. It didn't exactly start yesterday. We've decided that rick rack and polka dots and yellow and green can all be considered lolita. It's a very established aesthetic. But it's really lacking the vigor it used to have. Are the discussions just happening elsewhere? Is news in the loli world really just that scarce? I want to be more active in the lolita comms I'm a member of, but it's just all newbies and "help me I don't know the answer~" posts. There's no fun in that. Splitting into the main comm and the sales comm was a wonderful idea but after that everyone just started making splinter groups and none of them really seem that active and egl is soooooo slow compared to how it used to be.
Is this just what happens to comms after they've been around for years? Idk. There always seems to be enough stuff to post to the steamfashion comms. I know that steamfashion advocates more diy stuff and that really leaves room for "look what I did and how I did it!" posts and lifestyle stuff. Is that maybe what egl needs? More lifestyle stuff even though we don't necessarily all follow that trend? Idk. Egl was just this great starting point for so many people I don't want it to become like some dying elephant lolling about with everyone too scared to put it out of its misery just because of what it stands for.
